Hard day today as everyone is tired. It is hard to learn when you are tired. The Schwa reading group was supposed to turn in foldars on Friday and none of them got it done. They will be on the no gym list until they get it in. My secondary Social Studies kids have a packet due on Friday this week. If they are not doing homework then they should be. They are Kaylene, Sergie, Rhea, and S. They have had a week to work on it so far, and they need to be finished by Friday. We are back into vocabulary and some kids are not doing their work daily. I have put up a checklist for daily work in the class. If they are not doing it, they do not have an excuse. I seem to be having a harder and harder time getting the kids to do homework. They cant pass standards unless they get work done.

Eau and Stuart and John scored 100% on their reading vocabulary. WAY TO GO! Because of changes in how we do vocab your child more than likely will have homework from now until the end of the year. If you ask and they say they dont and you have questions, call me. I will be at the school late probbaly every day as my college has started up again. Mikey, Stuart, Donnie and Eau have also started their level math assessment. It is 22 pages long so give them encouragement at home to do well so we can move them up to the next level. 6 more days until the start of volleyball practice. Dont forget that the teachers have inservice this month. Sergie, Kalleigh and Jordan are doing their HSGQE testing this week. Sergie and Jordan on Wednesday and Kalleigh on Thuirsday. Today we had a drill and everyone did a great job. Thanks to Mike Meyers for giving us tips and professional advice to run these drills. John

WAY TO GO!! Eau, Mikey, Stuart and John allo scored really, really high scores on their vocabulary tests today. In fact three of them could not have scored any higher. One only missed 1. We welcomed Rhea back from her adventures at Phase 1. She will be letting the LSAC know what she accomplished while there. Kaylene is headed to AFN next month. The district is picking up the tab and she should have a great time. The students are still motoring through Language! and doing well. Looks like we are getting a new cook. We will miss Louise coming into class daily and serving us up good lunches every day. We hope the new cook is just as good. The studnets have a big test on Wednesday in Science. They need to study for it. I am giving them some time in class. They should also be studying for it at home.

Good day.
Cal Cox has been in and has visited with all the students (9-12) on their graduation plans. The students should bring them home for you to see their status. Donald scored 100 percent on Math today. WAY TO GO!! Kaylene, Donald, Toshya and Kortnee are doing real well in Language! Sergie has been working real hard to complete standards to complete several levels at once. I am having some trouble getting the kids in here by 8:30 each day. I have warned them that they are in danger of loosing night gym if they cannot be here at the required time. Please help me and them as we have a lot to cover each day and it makes it a longer day if i have to repeat myself every time someone new walks in. Speaking of new, Kalleigh has come to us from Anchorage. Welcome to Charlie "Shorty" Wilson school. We are now up to 12 kids in High School. Angela has come to the rescue along with new LSAC members who are helping out the students. Her and Glendora are reviving the student store. It should be up and running before you know it. Then we will eventually start movie nights and other activities for the kids and kids at heart in Levelock. The school is still looking to hire a volleyball coach. Practice starts on 12 Oct. Students should be reading 30 minutes a night to help them. UPCOMING: 6,7,8 October is HSGQE retesting. Keep this in mind if your child needs to retake one or more of the tests.

AWESOME!! We have started our new Language Arts program and the students are doing really well using it. Kaylene, Toshya, Donnie and Kortnee are in my class, Stuart, Eau, Michael and John are working with Ms. Alice, all of them are working hard. We also started working with Pudewa writing and the students finished their first write. They did well enough they put them in their student folders for standards. Mikey scored a very high mark on his Math today and continues to go through his objectives pretty fast. John, Stuart, Donnie and Eau are also working hard on their objectives and are looking towards passing a level test soon. Sergie has been working hard on Science catch-up and should complete a level by the end of the month. We also have finished the first thing in Science level 6 (credit level). You should see your students coming home with a folder and studying for a test. The test will be next week and have a question/answer test and a performance section. If they score below 80% (district mandated level) they will have to take a new test until they score 80% or better. This is one of the two levels they need to complete for graduation purposes. Please encourage them to study.
With the new Language Arts program there is reading involved, please encourage your child to read an additional 30 minutes a day outside of school. This will boost their vocabulary skills and also help them read textbooks in Science, Social Studies and Math.

A couple of updates on things we are doing at the school. The school district has bought new Language Arts books for all of the schools. We will be starting in the new books on Monday. It will be a change for us as well as the students but we are looking for huge progress in their reading and writing scores. To help us, please have your child/ren read up to 30 minutes a night. They can read to you, themselves or younger siblings. This will help tremendously. I have also put Mikey, Stuart, Donnie, Eau and John back into Accelerated Math. It is a great program with proven results. I am looking for them to complete at least two levels of math this year. With that in mind, Mikey scored 100% on a test today. Way to go Mikey. Rhea, who is working in our new math books, did very well on her exponents paper yesterday, way to go. With the new math books the students need to complete 1 lesson a day, this includes 1 practice page, notetaking, book work and an online test. There are about 120 lessons in each book, there are 180 days in each school year. They are able to take all materials home each day. I encourage them to do more than 1 lesson a day, this means taking books home and doing homework. Sergie, S, Ryan, Rhea and Kaylene are all in the new books.

Hello

I am going to try to use this for helping to keep in contact with all of you. It will not have any personal information on it. If i need to contact you i might put in here that we need to talk, or if i call and do not get in touch with you that way, it will be here. Anything that we are working on in class that is important or not will probably be posted here. I will try to update every day. As of now the students are doing well. We have had 3 vocabulary tests and they went well, not great, but well. If your child brings home their test to be signed, then they did not do that well. We will continue with them, your child knows if they are doing it or not. Some will have Math homework. They know if they do not get through the chapter, they have homework. I would also like them to read for about 30 minutes a night. Many are behind where they need to be in Reading, this is a way to catch up.
Great things for this year so far; S has passed 2 levels already. The kids made great strides in their SBA testing and we have made AYP, again. This is quite a change around, the kids ought to be congratulated and we look forward to testing next spring when we can do even better.
Any questions please call me at the school, after 3:15 or at home.
